Whether you are already employed in retail or are on placement you will get real work experience while studying towards a qualification and will also gain an award that is recognised by employers and educational facilities countrywide.

The Courses:

Retail Foundation Learning (FL) Programme

If you are keen to get the skills necessary to work in retail and warehousing then Foundation Learning (FL) is for you!

What you do

Based at BDTS you will work in our training centres and also in a work placement.
You will work towards units of Level 1 or 2 Award or Certificate or an equivalent qualification, dealing with customers, handling stock, working in a team, security and health and safety. You will also complete a personal and Social Development qualification and other qualifications in maths, english and ICT. The course will last 26 weeks.

Retail Apprenticeship Programme

If you are enthusiastic about working in retail and warehousing and are happy to commit to a 15 month programme then an Apprenticeship is a smart move.

What you do

Achieve a maximum of 37 credits to gain a Retail Diploma
Work with your employer and attend BDTS for theory and practical training
Complete a Technical Certificate that will prove your knowledge of legal and industry practices
Gain maths and english qualifications

Retail Advanced Apprenticeship Programme

Are you at a supervisory or equivalent job level? Do you want to improve your skills and get up to date with retail standards?

What you do

Achieve units that make up a Level 3 Diploma, these are tailored to your job role
Able to specialise in specific to enhance your skills
Take a Technical Certificate that will prove your knowledge of legal and industry practices
Gain qualifications in maths and english at Level 2

About Train to Gain / Adult Apprenticeship

If you are 19 or over, you could be eligible to work towards a diploma level 2 or 3 in retail
You will be able to improve your skills while earning your usual wage
It should not take up any extra time as you can provide evidence for your portfolio as you work
