Customer Service Qualifications

Listed below are some of the qualifications on offer and a brief explanation of what they involve.

Customer Service Foundation Learning (FL):

Foundation Learning gives you the skills to get a job, ideally as an apprentice, or move on to college. Foundation Learning (FL) gives support to improve work skills and maths and english if needed. It looks at your training needs and will build your confidence and ability to start your career.

Based at BDTS you will work both in our training centre and also in an office or retail placement. You will work towards units of Level 1 NVQ or an equivalent qualification, dealing with a range of tasks in your work placement such as reception, dealing with customers and filing. You will develop personal skills to move forward to further training and employment. The programme will last upto 20 weeks.

Customer Service - Apprenticeship:

Based in an office or retail company and attending BDTS/CPT for theory and practical training you will work towards achieving an NVQ or Diploma at Level 2 and Functional / Key Skills in Maths and English. (Learners with Maths and English Grades A-C will be exempt from Functional Skills), you will also complete a Technical Certificate at Level 2.
We will support you in finding an employer if you do not have one when you apply to us.
The apprenticeship will give you the skills to work within the industry as an receptionist, customer service assistant or advisor . The programme lasts for up to 15 months. Learners will earn at least the minimum apprentice wage of £2.50 per hour (employed status).

Customer Service - Advanced Apprenticeship:

Many learners will progress from a Level 2 Apprenticeship to an Advanced Apprenticeship, either directly or as their level of responsibility increases. At Advanced Level you will work towards an NVQ or Diploma at Level 3 in Customer Service and Functional / Key Skills in Maths and English at Level 2. (Learners with Maths and English Grades A-C within the last 5 years will be exempt from Functional Skills) you will also complete a Technical Certificate at Level 3. You will attend workshops at BDTS/CPT covering both theory and practical skills. Advanced Apprentices must be employed status

Customer Service - Train to Gain / Adult Apprenticeship:

Train to Gain / Adult Apprenticeship programme gives employed people the opportunity to upgrade or accredit their existing skills by achieving an NVQ or Diploma at Level 2 and, in some instances Level 3. You will be supported by one of our skilled assessors and all facilities at the training centre will be available to you. Assessment and support will normally be delivered in your workplace.

NVQs:

National Vocational Qualifications are work based qualifications which prove that a person has the skills, knowledge and understanding to do their job well. They are nationally recognised which means employers across Britain accept them as formal qualifications, and they are required to work in some industries. They are also accepted by colleges as meeting entrance requirements at various levels. NVQs are available at Levels 1,2,3,& 4.  

Functional / Key Skills:

Functional / Key Skills show your ability to perform across a range of subject areas, they are an integral part of Apprenticeship programmes in number and communication and are also available in personal skill areas such as ‘working with others’.

Technical Certificates:

‘Tech Certs’ show you have the knowledge required to perform within your job role and are a nationally recognised qualification linked to your industry.
